Like most Italian cities, it is pretty difficult to find anything other than Italian food in Naples. Now don’t get me wrong, Neapolitan cuisine is dee-lish! Pizza, mozzarella di bufala, fresh mussels, what’s not to love? But, after visiting the city for a few days the carb/fish heavy diet can start taking its toll. So, if you’re craving something ethnic, or maybe just a taste of home, here’s what I recommend.
Variety: Via Bausan
In Chiaia, Via Bausan hosts a number of restaurants from all over the world. Here you can have Mexican, Spanish, French, and more! The food is not always authentic, but it certainly scratches an itch.
Indian Food
Taj Mahal, just off of Via Toledo, has the best Indian food in town and offers all your go to favorites (samosas, chicken tikka masala, even paneer!). Just be warned, they have catered a bit to their Italian customers, so be sure to ask for extra spicy (piccante per favore!).
Burgers
Sale e Pepe in Vomero is the place to go to get your burger fix. Most Italian burgers are dry and lacking in flavor, but these are juicy and packed with flavor. Come hungry, though, they are HUGE!
A second favorite, Lelena Burger in Chiaia and Aversa has an awesome atmosphere with juicy California burgers.
Sushi
Sake in Pozzuoli makes fresh and delicious sushi! Bonus, they have amazing cocktails.
If you can’t make the drive out to the Campi Flegrei area, Jorudan Sushi in Vomero is another top pick!
Thai
Damstraat may be small, but the food is authentic, and they’ll make it with a bit of a kick if you ask. Try the “Khiao Wan Curry”, it is delish!
Brunch
Italians don’t do savory breakfast, but at Birdy’s Bakery in Chiaia and Vomero you can get your fix of eggs & bacon. They even have drip coffee.
