Where to Eat in Pozzuoli

Pizzerias and Family Dining

Picea

Picea may not look like much from the outside, but their pizza is legit and their prices are great!  They are open during riposo (the afternoon rest area) for those who like to dine on the earlier side.  Eat outside and enjoy people watching in the piazza, or head inside for a view of the pizza oven in action.

Aqua e Farina

At the far end of Via Napoli, Aqua e Farina is conveniently located next to a public parking lot.  They offer an a-la-carte menu with regional appetizers, pastas, and, of course, pizza!  Like Picea, they are open all afternoon if you like to eat on the early side.

Boccuccia di Rosa

Like Aqua e Farina, Boccuccia has a varied menu. Whether you want a delicious caprese, salad with grilled chicken, or pizza alla siciliana, Boccuccia has it all and does it well!

Taverna Viola

The best part of Taverna Viola is its view of the Bay of the Pozzuoli, that, and their zuppa di cozze, which may be the best I have had in Naples. They have a more upscale environment, but their a-la-carte menu gives it a casual dining feel. The outside terrace is perfect on warm summer nights or for the kids to run around!

Modern Cuisine/Date Night

The Sign

Leave Pozzuoli behind and enter the world of steampunk.  From its inside dining area to its outside patio, The Sign is covered in awesome steampunk decor.  Their menu hosts a selection of delicious sandwiches, burgers, specialty fries, and awesome beers. Owner Michele learned his barman skills in London’s Trafalgar Square, and his cocktails are made to impress.

Ammaccamm

Ammacamm sports the sign “verace pizza napoletano”, but their menu offers far more than traditional Neapolitan pizzas. Their creative spins, like their pizza with pumpkin cream sauce, friarelli and sausage, are delectable, and the modern ambiance is a great backdrop to a night out on the town.

The Full Monte

D.O.C. Osteria

If you’re looking for a real Italian dinner (complete with appetizers, first & second courses, dessert, and wine), but don’t want to eat too much, then look no further.  D.O.C. Osteria offers a lighter, but satisfying, Italian dining experience.  Their smaller selection of appetizers, a family style pasta, meat & cheese second course, and a small pastry for dessert never disappoints. Best of all, they keep the wine flowing, and the price is just right at 25 euro a head.

Putipu

Named after Pucinella’s traditional mandolin, the putipu, this restaurant is as traditional as it comes. They serve local seafood specialties, one after another, after another, each more delicious than the next. Come here with an empty stomach and plan to spend hours enjoying a decadent Italian meal. For a lighter fare (which really isn’t light at all), stick with the mixed appetizers and go home with a happy belly. Prices are a bit higher at around 40 euro a person, so save this one for special occasions.

Take Out/Delivery

Pizzeria Don’anna

Contrary to the name, don’t go here for the pizza, it’s the burgers you want!  They have a huge selection of specialty burgers and they come pretty close to the American kind.  You can go here for either take out or delivery.

Pizza Stop

A favorite of locals, Pizza Stop makes some of the best pizza in town despite it’s hole-in-the-wall appearance.  Great for take out or delivery.

Cuba Libre

If half the family wants sandwiches and half wants pizza, Cuba Libre is the answer to your prayers.  You can dine in,  do take out, or have them deliver to your front door.

Buon Appetito!
