Napoli: The City of San Gennaro

I happened upon the Cattedrale di San Gennaro (or the Duomo di Napoli) by chance, or perhaps the will of God, while on an impromptu trip to downtown Naples.  After hours of walking down dark, narrow streets I suddenly found myself in an open square,  flooded with light. At the back of the square sat the immense cathedral.  It was clean, white, and ornately decorated, vastly contrasting the buildings surrounding it.

Naples is known for it’s narrow alleyways, and when you’re deep in the historic center it can be hard to see much past your own feet. Take a step outside the chaotic downtown area for a new perspective on the city. Trust me when I say, these spots have real wow factor!

Ethnic Food in Naples

Like most Italian cities, it is pretty difficult to find anything other than Italian food in Naples. Now don’t get me wrong, Neapolitan cuisine is dee-lish! Pizza, mozzarella di bufala, fresh mussels, what’s not to love? But, after visiting the city for a few days the carb/fish heavy diet can start taking its toll. So, if you’re craving something ethnic, or maybe just a taste of home, here’s what I recommend.
